September has arrived in Centennial, bringing that wonderfully Colorado combination of warm afternoons, cooler evenings and calendars suddenly filling with fall activities. For the week of September 2–8, 2026, there are a few important community updates to know, plus one last opportunity to squeeze a little more summer out of the long Labor Day weekend.

New Centennial E-Bike Rules Are Now in Effect

If your household has an e-bike, electric dirt bike or other high-powered electric ride, this is one update worth knowing.

Centennial recently adopted new regulations governing e-bikes, electric motorcycles and other small electric vehicles on public property. The rules took effect immediately following City Council approval in August.

Among the biggest changes, Class 3 e-bikes and electric motorcycles are prohibited on City sidewalks and trails, although they may be operated on streets when applicable traffic laws and vehicle requirements are met. Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes generally remain permitted where traditional bicycles are allowed. Electric motorcycle operators must be at least 16, and riders under 18 are subject to helmet requirements.

Parents of younger riders may especially want to review the City's guidance before the next neighborhood ride. Centennial e-bike and electric vehicle rules

One Last Centennial Pool Day for Summer

Not quite ready to surrender summer?

Ben Franklin Pool, located at 1600 E. Panama Drive in Centennial, wraps up its 2026 outdoor season on Labor Day, Monday, September 7. The pool is open weekends through September 7 and will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Labor Day.

That makes this weekend the final chance for a waterslide, splash and perhaps one ceremonial refusal to acknowledge that pumpkin-spice season is already stalking us from the grocery aisle.

Stage 2 Burn Ban Remains an Important Centennial Reminder

Late-summer fire conditions remain something residents should take seriously. Centennial is currently highlighting Arapahoe County's Stage 2 Burn Ban, and the restriction affects recreation close to home, too.

At Centennial Center Park, grills are currently prohibited because of the burn ban. Residents planning Labor Day gatherings, backyard activities or park outings should check current restrictions before using grills, fire pits or other flame-producing equipment, since conditions and restrictions can change.

Fall Activities Are Opening Across South Suburban

For families ready to trade summer improvisation for a slightly more organized September, South Suburban Parks and Recreation has opened registration for its Fall 2026 programs, including classes, events and recreational leagues.

Programs span multiple ages and interests, making this a good week to explore activities before popular options fill.

Coming Next: Centennial Chalk Art Festival

And here is one worth putting on the calendar now.

The Centennial Chalk Art Festival returns Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Streets at SouthGlenn. Nearly 100 local artists are expected to transform the sidewalks into colorful works of art, joined by live music, local vendors, restaurants and opportunities for visitors to vote for their favorite creations. Admission is free.

September may be changing the rhythm around Centennial, but the community calendar certainly is not slowing down. From one last swim to new safety rules and a major arts celebration just ahead, there is plenty worth knowing, doing and sharing close to home.

Glad electric motorcycles have an age rule. Too many teens riding like it’s Fast & Furious out here.

Does the Chalk Art Festival get too busy in the middle of the day? Wondering if morning is better for littles.

Mornings tend to be a bit quieter and especially popular with families, plus, you’ll get a front-row seat as artists start their creations!

So do we need any sort of permit to ride a Class 3 e-bike on the street, or just follow normal bike rules?

Appreciate the helmet rule for younger e-vehicle riders. Seen way too many kids zipping around with no protection on.

Burn ban in the parks makes sense but is a bummer for Labor Day BBQ plans. Guess we’ll picnic indoors!
