October is settling comfortably into Centennial, and this week’s calendar has an interesting split personality. There are opportunities for adults thinking about their next career move, Halloween fun for both grown-ups and kids, and two aviation-centered events that make excellent use of having Centennial Airport right in our backyard.
Here’s what to know around Centennial, Colorado, October 6–13.
A Career Fair Designed for the Next Chapter
On Wednesday, October 7 from 9 to 11:30 a.m., the 9th Annual Encore Career Fair brings employers and job seekers together at The Space by Arapahoe Libraries, 12855 E. Adam Aircraft Circle.
Presented by Arapahoe/Douglas Works! in partnership with the City of Centennial and Centennial Senior Commission, the event is aimed at people who want to continue along an existing career path, try something new or earn additional income. Opportunities range from entry-level positions to management roles. Veterans and military spouses receive priority access from 9 to 9:30 a.m., followed by the general public.

Halloween Storytime Is Not Just for Kids
Arapahoe Libraries flips the usual storytime formula on Friday, October 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with Halloween Tales at Teatime: Adult Storytime at The Space by Arapahoe Libraries.
Guests are invited to come in costume, enjoy refreshments and listen to creepy public-domain stories. This one is specifically intended for adults, and organizers note that some selections may include adult language or content.

Trick-or-Treating Takes to the Tarmac
Saturday morning gets airborne at Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight at Centennial Airport.
Treats on the Tarmac runs October 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and combines aircraft with Halloween activities.
Families can collect candy from aircraft, join a costume catwalk at 11 a.m., tackle a spooky scavenger hunt, make crafts and watch airplanes arrive and depart from the tarmac. Admission is ticketed, and registration is encouraged.

Future Careers Take Flight Monday
Wings returns to the calendar on Monday, October 12 from 2 to 6 p.m. with its 6th Annual College & Career Symposium: Aviation, Public Safety and Engineering.
The free event connects students, families and career explorers with Colorado colleges, flight-training programs and professionals working in aerospace, engineering and public safety. Workshops include college application guidance, LinkedIn development, resume help and professional headshots.
Give Your LinkedIn Profile a Tune-Up
The week closes Tuesday, October 13 with a free LinkedIn workshop at the Centennial Workforce Center, 6974 S. Lima Street, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Participants will learn how to strengthen a profile, build professional connections, follow employers and use LinkedIn more effectively during a job search. Registration is available through Connecting Colorado.

From spooky stories and candy-covered airplanes to career fairs and future possibilities, this week in Centennial is a good reminder that local happenings do not have to fit into one neat little box. Sometimes the best week includes both a polished resume and a Halloween costume.

Nice to see the city partnering with libraries for cool stuff like this. Libraries are more than books!
Absolutely! The library has become a creative hub in Centennial, and we're excited to highlight all the ways it brings the community together beyond just books.
Free headshots are such a bonus! They charge a ton for those downtown.
I'm interested in the resume help at the symposium. Does anyone know if you have to stay the full 4 hours?
Happy they're focusing on LinkedIn too. A lot of folks overlook it but I've found jobs there before.
Seeing 'Halloween Tales at Teatime' made me LOL. Centennial has the quirkiest events, in a good way.
Does anyone know if refreshments at the adult storytime are included, or do we bring our own? Either way, love the idea!
I wish Treats on the Tarmac lasted a little longer. My daughter has soccer at 10, not sure we'll make both!
As a vet, thanks for giving us priority at the career fair. Sometimes it feels like we get left out, but not here.
Love how Centennial is doing events for every age group. Makes me want to get out more!
We're so glad you feel inspired! Centennial really shines when it comes to offering something for everyone, hope you get to enjoy some of these events.
Not sure about the combination of planes and a bunch of sugar-fueled kids, but it does sound unique lol.
That LinkedIn event caught my eye. I'm back on the job market and could use all the help! Anyone been before?
Lots for job seekers but almost too much to keep track of! Is there a calendar I can subscribe to?
We tried the scavenger hunt last year with our twins and they loved it. We met the nicest volunteers too!
I'll check out the aviation symposium! I'm a high school junior thinking about engineering, so this is perfect timing.
Glad Centennial Airport hosts these family events, makes living nearby so much more interesting.
Storytime for adults is such a fun twist. I might go solo, haven't worn a costume since college!
We love the enthusiasm, costumes are highly encouraged! Enjoy the adult storytime and don’t be surprised if you rediscover some Halloween spirit.
Costume catwalk on the tarmac?? That'll make for some adorable photos. Hope the weather holds up!
Justin ThomsonRight? My daughter is already planning her outfit. Fingers crossed for blue skies, last year got pretty chilly around noon.
Would love tips for first timers at the career fair, never been to one but thinking about switching things up this year.
Veterans getting early access at the career fair is a great move. Happy to see them recognized.
Halloween Tales at Teatime for adults? That's awesome, finally something spooky for us and not just the kiddos.
Honestly had no clue there were so many job events in our area. The LinkedIn workshop sounds perfect, my profile is so outdated.
I saw the Treats on the Tarmac last year and my kids are STILL talking about it! They can't wait to go again. Candy + planes is a total win.
That's wonderful to hear! Treats on the Tarmac truly brings together aviation magic and Halloween fun, here's to another fantastic year for your family.
