The History Colorado Center in Denver is commemorating the 150th anniversary of Colorado's statehood and the 250th anniversary of the United States with a series of engaging exhibitions and events.
Among the featured exhibitions is "Moments That Made US", showcasing rare artifacts that highlight pivotal moments in American history. This exhibition is open through October 18.
Another highlight is "38th Star: Colorado Becomes the Centennial State", which delves into Colorado's journey to statehood. Visitors can explore this exhibition until September 6.
For those interested in early exploration, "Expedition 1776: The Journey of Domínguez and Escalante" offers insights into one of the earliest European expeditions in the West. This exhibition is available through August 2.
In partnership with the Regional Transportation District (RTD), the History Colorado Center encourages visitors to utilize public transit to attend these exhibitions. RTD has introduced a commemoratively wrapped bus featuring artwork inspired by the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Colorado's statehood.
For families in Centennial, the nearby town of Castle Rock is hosting a Colorado Day Festival on August 1, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The festival will feature live music, a cornhole tournament, family activities, local food trucks, and beverages.
Additionally, the City of Centennial is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a series of events throughout the summer, including live entertainment, arts, culture, and community gatherings.
