Centennial Weekly Pulse: Election Day Drop Box, a Canceled Council Night and a Wednesday Planning Meeting |
The Civic Center ballot drop box closes at 7 p.m. on Election Day, and the City Council's Nov. 3 meetings are canceled. Planning and Zoning holds a special meeting Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. |

This issue lands on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. The city's public calendar reflects that. There is one firm deadline today, a council night taken off the books, and one public meeting coming up Wednesday. Everything below comes from notices posted on the City of Centennial homepage. Here is what each item means for residents.
Ballot drop box: open until 7 p.m. tonight
The city's homepage says the official ballot drop box at the Centennial Civic Center is open 24/7 until 7 p.m. on Election Day. If your ballot is still sitting on the kitchen counter, today is the day to drop it off.
Why it matters: The Civic Center box is a close-to-home option for residents who would rather hand-deliver a ballot on the final day than send it another way.
Want one more look at the city's own explanation of its tax question before you vote? The city keeps a dedicated page on the sales and use tax measure on the November 2026 ballot. We walked through that ballot language in detail last week, so we won't repeat it here. Whichever way you lean, the city page is a good primary source to read alongside other perspectives.
No City Council meetings tonight
A notice on the city homepage says the City Council study session and regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, have been canceled. That evening is also Election Day.
The same calendar listed a council special meeting for Monday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center. That was the evening before this issue arrived.
Why it matters: If you planned to attend tonight's council meeting or speak during it, that won't happen this week. Check the city calendar for the next scheduled session before marking your own.
Planning and Zoning meets Wednesday
The homepage calendar lists a Planning and Zoning Commission special meeting for Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center. It is the city meeting on that calendar that falls inside this issue's Nov. 4–10 window.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is the city's resident board for land-use and development matters. Those questions shape what gets built, and where, near homes, shopping centers and business corridors. A special meeting is one held outside the commission's usual schedule.
Why it matters: Land-use proposals often surface at the commission level before later steps. That makes these meetings an early, low-key way to see what may be coming to your part of town. Before heading over, open the meeting listing on the city's site to see what's on the agenda.
Following along
The week after an election can feel like a breather, and Centennial's calendar looks a little lighter than usual. Still, the cancellation notice and the special meetings above were all posted first on the city homepage. That makes it the quickest place to check before you head to the Civic Center for anything.
For today, the takeaway is simple: if you haven't voted yet, the Civic Center drop box closes at 7 p.m. For Wednesday, if development in Centennial is on your mind, the Planning and Zoning Commission is meeting. |

Would be nice if these notices were on social media too. Not everyone checks the council homepage every day.
Ballots all dropped off! Feels good to get that done early for once. Thanks for reminding me about the closing time.
Skipped the regular meeting but having a special Planning and Zoning one is an odd move. Hope something big isn’t getting fast-tracked.
Do they post the agenda for Planning and Zoning before the meeting? I want to see if any rezones are happening near me.
Election Day and no council meeting. Smart, so people focus on voting.
Can we get text alerts for city meetings and closures? Would help folks who aren’t online every day.
I wish more people knew about the ballot drop box hours. My neighbor thought it was only open during business hours!
Those Planning and Zoning meetings can be more important than people realize. Miss one and a new business can pop up overnight.
You're right: Planning and Zoning sessions often set early directions for our neighborhoods, so attending or reading their agendas is a great way to stay in the loop.
Just a tip for future: always double-check the city site before heading out for meetings. I once showed up to an empty building.
Nice to get a little break from council meetings. Hope the next one is back to regular time though.
No council meeting today makes sense. Election night is hectic enough.
The city’s page on the tax question was actually pretty informative when I checked. It helped clear up a lot of confusion for me.
We're glad to hear the city's page was helpful, our goal is to spotlight primary sources like that so residents can make informed choices.
I feel like these special meetings for Planning and Zoning never get enough notice. Wish more folks showed up before things get approved.
If anyone wants to see what’s next near their part of town, go to those planning meetings. That’s where new stores and development get talked about first.
Laura2dogsTotally agree. I went to one last year and learned about a new coffee shop coming to my block before anyone else. Worth showing up.
Every year I worry I’ll miss the deadline. Appreciate the clear info. Voting after work tonight.
Does anyone know if the drop box is inside the Civic Center or outside? My grandma needs a drive-through spot.
Wish they would put the council schedule changes out by email too, not just on the homepage. Almost missed this.
Glad they canceled council tonight. Wasn’t looking forward to sitting through one on election day.
I appreciate the notice on the Planning and Zoning meeting. We got a lot of projects popping up near my area and I want to know what’s coming.
Thanks for the heads up about the drop box close time. Almost forgot it wasn’t open all night.
